So here’s the deal.  Are you ready to face that over-filled family calendar?  Are you ready to challenge yourself?  Are you ready to take back the responsibility of letting kids be kids?

Are you ready to disconnect:  put your phone down, and unplug their TV?  Are you ready to reconnect outside?

Over-programmed, screen-obsessed lives lead to disconnected, emotionally-dulled families.  We find ourselves feeling resentful, disconnected, and alone, even when we are surrounded by family.

Shouldn’t family life be more?  Don’t we deserve better connections?

I get how hard it is to slow down and make family time a priority.  Here’s a true confession:  Some days I tuck the kids into bed and realize that I’ve not even sat and talked with them all day!  All day!  Does that make me a bad mom?  No.  I was busy taking care of them, washing, cooking, organizing, driving, working… you know, being a mom.

But, I forgot to take time to be with them.  Bad mom or not, that’s not the mom I want to be.

So, this challenge is for me too.

Some of my best memories with my kids are when we’re just taking a walk together.  Without an agenda or any distractions there’s nothing else to do but get connected to each other.

This isn’t a screen-free challenge.  This isn’t a timed challenge.  This isn’t a competition.  This is simply a challenge of priorities.

Just 7 days, that’s one week… to find time to be in the wild.  Make it a wild week.

The only thing you need to do is get yourself and your kids out into some sort of natural environment for some sort of free, self-led activity for a week of wildfulness.

Joining the wild challenge is simple:

First, accept the challenge and provide your email so you’ll be reminded of upcoming wild weeks, and receive additional supports and resources

Second, join the closed Facebook Group (this is optional).

Next, Do it!  Get outside with your family and enjoy some wildfulness each month!

Lastly, share your challenges and successes in the Outdoor Family Club, and with your friends, and family.

If, for any reason, you feel this Wild Week Challenge and Community isn’t for you, you can simply unsubscribe from the challenge and leave the group.

What are you waiting for?  Big changes start with small steps.

Take that first step right now and sign up for the challenge.

Remember, you’re not doing this alone.  I’ll send you activity ideas and tips throughout the wild week to encourage and support you.  There’ll be a whole community of other parents to make the same changes in their family.

You can even grab this Wild Week Workbook to really set your family up for success!  This workbook will take the stress and indecision out of planning your activities and help you evaluate the week so you can easily move forward into more weeks full of outdoor family fun.

With a more connected family you can expect easier communication and increased cooperation between family members.  With less time in front of screens and more time in nature you can expect to feel a decrease in tension and an increase in overall well-being for all your family members.

Not taking this challenge simply means you’ll continue along the same path you’re currently walking… going from day to day feeling disconnected and caught up in the whirlwind of managing a family.

So go ahead, the first step is the easiest.  Decide that for a week each month you’re ready to disconnect your family from this busy life and take a journey towards reconnecting with your families in nature.

It’s time to take a break from simply managing your family so you can enjoy being part of a family.  Rewild your family so that you can reconnect with the world around you.

But wait, what will the challenge actually look like?

After signing up you’ll receive an email reminding you of the challenge, then, you’ll receive one email each day for a week full of activity ideas, resources, and mini-challenge suggestions.

What you choose to do and how to get outside is entirely up to you.

You will be encouraged to share you struggles and celebrate your wins in the Outdoor Family Facebook Group.

This wild challenge is still a new idea, but as time goes on, I hope to be able to offer enticing prizes or awards for achieving family nature goals and maybe even an in-depth course on fully becoming an outdoor family… but that’s in the future.  Now, we just need to get ourselves outside, have fun doing it, and watch as we help ourselves and our families grow a little wilder!
